Wednesday, December 15
Baseball tryouts will be held Monday, January 20th at 1:00.  All players must have an up to date physical to try out.  See Coach Herring with questions.

Tuesday, December 14
To All Juniors and Seniors:  The ASVAB will be given on Thursday, February 13th at the Middle Georgia Aviation College.  All juniors and seniors interested in taking the ASVAB should sign up in the Counselor's Office.  The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a multiple-choice test that helps you better understand your strengths and is one of the things that helps you identify which Army jobs (Military Occupational Specialities) are best for you.  Don't delay.  Sign up now! If you have any questions or concerns, please see Ms. McRae in the counselor's office.  
French Club will be going ice skating next Monday, January 20th after the parade.  You should receive your flier this week.  Please RSVP by Friday if you plan to attend and see Ms. Camp if you have questions. 
Attention all students and staff:  The American Red Cross will be in the gym for our 2nd annual blood drive on January 30th.  Seniors that donate twice in the same year will receive a graduation cord from the Red Cross, and they will be giving out t-shirts to the donors on January 30th.  Sign up for the drive will begin Monday in the cafeteria. 

Tuesday, December 7
--The wrestling team competed over the break in the Perry Invitational finishing 5 as a team, bringing home 7 medalists. 
Javon McNeal - 1st, Joah Gay - 2nd, Noah Pace - 3rd, Judd Bellflower - 4th, Landynn Powers - 5th, Blaine Pritchett - 6th, and Diego Avila - 6th. 
This past weekend they traveled to Moultrie to compete in the Packer Classic. They finished 3rd in their pool and 12th in the tournament out of 30 teams.  Top performers on the weekend were:  Javon McNeal, Joah Gay, Noah Pace, AJ Melvin, and Dayvion Huttoe. 
--Any girl or boy interested in competing in solo or trio for literary should see Ms. Jana Mullis. 
--All students wanting to participate in football this coming spring will have to have a weight training class this semester.  Make sure to see a counselor or football coach as soon as possible. 
--Tennis tryouts will begin Monday, January 13th at 4:00.  Students must have a current physical on file and be academically eligible to tryout.  If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Jones at the middle school. 

Monday, December 9
--French Club will be having a movie soiree next Monday, December 16th.  French club members will be getting an invitation today.  Please see Mrs. Camp if you have questions. 
--ATTENTION DRAMA KID! If you are interested in competing in regional literary, please see Mrs. Purvis for an audition script. 
--Students who have excessive absences are reminded of their appointments at the board of education on Thursday, December 12, 2019.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Melvin. 
--Yearbooks can be purchased for $70 through January 1st.  This price includes a namestamp.  After January 1st, cost will be $80 and will not include  a namestamp.  See Ms. Rogers before or after school or during break to purchase. 
--The class of 2021 ring ceremony will be held Thursday, December 12th at 6pm in the gym.  Participants should be there by 5:30 pm.  We will practice during 1st period on Thursday.  If you did not purchase your ring from Herff Jones, please bring it to Mrs. Floyd in the front office by Thursday morning at 8am.  

 Friday, December 6
--The wrestling team defeated East Laurens 42-36 last night.  Top performers were Dayvion Huttoe, Diego Avilia, Jud Bellflower, Joseph White, Noah Pace, Joah Gay, Javon McNeal all winning by pin. 
--Any FCCLA member who is planning to attend the Christmas party Tuesday after school should sign up with Mrs. Ryals or Mrs. Jones by Monday. 
--Science Club will be meeting Wednesday, December 11th in room 505 after school. 
--Spirit Club would like all members to report to the rotunda at break for a group picture. 
--The ring ceremony will be held Thursday, December 12th at 6 pm in the gym.   Juniors who have signed up to participate with Mrs. Turner will practice this same day during 1st period. 

Thursday, October 10
--We will have student football tickets available for purchase on Friday in Ms. Roland's office. 
--The Dodge Co. FFA Livestock Show Team got off to a great start at the fair this past weekend in the sheep and cattle barns.
McKenna Walker had a great showing with the sheep as she was named Reserve Champion in the Georgia Club Lambs Association First Time Feeder Show. She also placed 4th in class of Market Lambs and had two 6th place finishes in the Commercial Ewes and Wether classes. She finished the weekend with a 6th place in 10th grade showmanship.
Things were busy in the cow barn as well with Kennan Bronson, Raina Weathersbee, Elizabeth Sanders, and Heath Sanders showing a fine group of cattle. Keenan started things off with a 5th place finish in Commercial heifers, Elizabeth Sanders had a 7th place showing in Hereford heifer class. Heath Sanders took 3rd in his Hereford heifer class. Raina Weathersbee finished the weekend with 4th and 7th places in her commercial heifer classes. Congratulations on a fine show weekend.


Wednesday, October 9
--The November SAT date has been canceled.  If you are interested in signing up for December, please be sure to register by November 7th.  Go by the counselor's office or see Ms. Jada Jones for help. 
--Attention Students and Staff:  We will be hosting the American Red Cross on Thursday, October 31st.  Please consider participating in the blood drive this year.  Every unit of blood donated by a teenager can help up to 3 adults and 9 premature babies.  Sign up for the blood drive will take place during your lunch.  A table will be set up with all the information.  If you have any further questions, please see Kathy Lewis. 
Monday, October 7
--Spirit Club would like to announce that we will be having a PINK OUT this Friday, October 11th.  Please plan to wear as much pink as you can for Breast Cancer Awareness.  We will be wearing it to school on Friday as well as to the game on Friday night.  See you all there! 
--French club will be having its annual Bonfire this Thursday from 6:30-8:30.  Make sure to join the French Club Remind to receive further details.  See Mrs. Camp if you have questions. 
--The University of Georgia wants to make sure our students are aware of their application deadlines.  October 15th is the deadline for students to submit their application for Early Action and October 22 is the deadline for materials to be submitted including your counselor's recommendation.  January 1st is the deadline for students to submit their application for Regular Decision and January 8th is the deadline for materials to be submitted including your counselor's recommendation.
Wednesday, October 3
--Today is the last day to sign up for basketball during lunch.  You must have a physical prior to 10/21.  You will need to see Coach Flowers for the form. 
--High School High Tech permission forms need to be returned to Ms. Brazil today.  Please get to her before break. 

Tuesday, October 2
--If you were given High School High Tech permission forms, please return those to Mrs. Brazil as soon as possible. 
--Student council and class officer pictures for the yearbook will be taken Thursday, October 3rd in the library at 7:45 am.  Make sure you coordinate what to wear with your group. 
--Yearbooks can be purchased for $70 from Ms. Rogers before or after school or during the break.  After January 1st, the cost of a yearbook will go up to $80. 
--Skills USA will have a meeting tomorrow morning (Thursday) at 8:10 in room 646.  If you are a paid member, you can pick up your t-shirt.  If you are going to the Champions Rally, all paperwork must be turned in by tomorrow. 

Monday, September 30
--Basketball tryouts for both boys and girls will be Monday, October 21st.  You can sign up during lunch.  You must have a physical done prior to October 21st and turned in to Coach Flowers.  October 17th will be the last day to sign up to participate in tryouts. 
--The PSAT will be given at Dodge County High School on Wednesday, October 16th.  All 10th graders will be taking the PSAT on that day.  Any 9th grader who would like to take the PSAT that day should sign up in your English class or in the counselor's office during lunch.  There is no cost for any 10th grader testing, but any 9th grader that chooses to test must pay the $17 registration fee by October 2nd. 
--The last day to take tux/drape pictures for the yearbook is Tuesday, October 1st.  Seniors are allowed to take their pictures when they get out of school. No senior should go during class.  Cost is $20. Emory Rogers will be here until 4:30 on Tuesday in the career center.  
--Retake picture day is this Wednesday, October 2nd.  This is the last opportunity to take yearbook pictures for Faculty and students in grades 9 -11.  Faculty members will take their picture before school beginning at 7:45 on Wednesday. Students on the list will be called to the career center during 1st period and will return promptly back to class.  No one should be allowed to take their picture if their name is not on this list. If a student wants to be added or thinks they were left off mistakenly, they should see Ms. Rogers by Tuesday afternoon at 3:30. The list is posted outside Ms. Rogers’s room on the math hall, in the lunchroom, and has been emailed to every teacher.

Thursday, September 26
--Attention all students riding on floats int he Homecoming parade: Students will not be allowed to drive into or park in the student parking lot or at the bus ramp.  Please either park beside the gym or across the bridge or get dropped off int he front parking lot and walk over to the floats at the bus ramp. 
--DCHS would like to formally invite all students to the community-wide pow wow that will be held on Thursday, September 26th at 7:30 pm at the DCMS track.  It'll be a fun night full of entertainment and cheering on our Dodge County Indians! We would like to ask that children do not play in the area of the obstacle course.  This means no football or horseplay whatsoever.  All children should also be accompanied by an adult at all times.  Thanks so much for helping us out with this! 
--Attention Students:  There will be no phone calls taken for signing out on Friday.  If you are signing out on this Friday, you should bring a parent note to the attendance office before first period.  No notes will be accepted after school has begun.  Notes will not be accepted from students are on the "no note" list.  If you have questions, stop by the attendance office. 
--Seniors - The last day to take your tux/drape pics for the yearbook is October 1st.  Cost is $20.  They will be at DCHS in the career center. 

Wednesday, September 18, 2019
---Students, please remember that you must have a hall pass to be seen by the nurse.  If you don't have a hall pass, you will need to return to class. 
---Seniors - The last day to take your tux/drape pictures for the yearbook is October 1st.  Emory Rogers Photography will be at DCHS that day in the career center for anyone who hasn't taken their pictures already.  Cost is $20.  See Ms. Rogers with questions. 
---There will be a Key Club meeting held at 8:00 AM on Thursday, September 19.  Please bring $18 for dues if you plan to join.  Plan to meet in Mrs. Mazza's room on the CTAE hall. 
---ATTN:  Skills USA! Today is the last day to sign up to go to the fair on October 4th.  If you plan to go, you must see Ms. Kathy Lewis before 4:45 today.

---Miss DCHS contestants have a mandatory meeting Tuesday morning (9/17) at 7:45 am in Ms. Rogers's room. ---There will be an FCCLA meeting after school Wednesday, September 18 from 3:30 - 5:00 in Mrs. Ashley Jones's room.  Pizza kits should also be picked up at that time. 
---FBLA will have a meeting at 7:50 AM on Tuesday, September 17th in Mrs. Tiffany Thomas's room (631).  $25 dues will need to be turned in.  We will elect officers and discuss the fair.  Hope to see everyone there!
---Spirit Club would like to announce the theme for this Friday....Hawaiian! Dress in your best Hawaiian outfit, but remember to follow school dress code.  Let's see all those grass skirts and Hawaiian shirts on Friday!!
