For his extraordinary performance on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), Peyton Clements has been named the Dodge County High School STAR Student.

The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program is co-sponsored by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. To be recognized as a STAR student, high school seniors must obtain the highest score on a single test date on the three-part SAT and be in the top ten percent of their respective senior class based on grade point average.

With a score of 2060, Peyton Clements has dignified himself as the STAR Student for DCHS and the class of 2016.

“I am very honored to have received this award and never thought I would get it,” said Clements.

In his first act as STAR Student, Clements chose a teacher he feels has made the greatest influence on his life. He chose his ninth grade math teacher Sheena Orange.

“I am very honored and blessed that out of all the teachers he’s had, he chose me,” Orange said. “Peyton is a truly remarkable young man; teaching him was effortless, and I always wondered if I was really teaching him because he was so smart. He always rose to my expectations.”

“[Clements] has chosen an outstanding teacher as STAR Teacher in Sheena Orange;  they are a dynamic duo, and we are very proud of them,” DCHS Principal, Dr. Susan Long.

After graduating from DCHS, Clements wants to attend the University of Georgia, obtain a degree in political science, and eventually become a lawyer.

He received gold and silver medals for the National Latin Exam and was nominated for the Governor's Honors Program in math. Clements has earned A Honor Roll all four years of high school.

“Peyton Clements is an outstanding young man. It is great to see his hard work and dedication pay off. We are very proud of him and all of his accomplishments,” said Long. Clements is a member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), band, and Old Daniel Baptist Church. He is the son of Travis and Jaqueline Clements, and he has two brothers Landin and Gantson Clements.
